Student At The University Of Detroit Michigan • Innovation Intern At Orange Sparkle Ball, Inc
I’m Alexander Montesinos, a first-gen college student from Detroit,
currently studying Computer Engineering at the University of
Michigan–Dearborn. I’ve always been drawn to solving complex problems
and building things that have real-world impact, which is what led me
into robotics, programming, and eventually engineering.
Right now, I’m a full time student while working part time as an intern at
Orange Sparkle Ball, where I help oversee robotic deliveries in downtown Detroit,
and I am also working as a controls mentor at the Michigan Engineering Zone.
In high school, I was co-captain of my FIRST Robotics team, where we
built a swerve-drive robot with autonomous routines that used AprilTags
to localize itself on the field. I’ve also taught coding to younger
students at iCode, worked with nonprofits to expand robotics access in
Detroit, attended MIT Introduction to Technology, Engineering and
Science Summer of 2024 where I created a partial functioning and
award winning Iron Man Helmet project, graduated Wolverine Pathways
Cohort '25, and helped run summer STEM camps.
Outside of tech, I wrestled varsity, I’m bilingual in English and
Spanish, and am willing to learn something new.
